Carpinus betulus – Hornbeam Hedging

Description

Carpinus betulus, commonly known as Hornbeam creates a fresh leaved well shaped formal hedge with an abundance of 5-8cm long ovate veined leaves in the spring. Although it is deciduous, it will retain a portion of its copper toned brown leaves throughout the winter.

As a formal hedge it requires clipping once a year in mid to late summer to keep it looking at its best.

Suitable for growing into a hedge 1.20 to 4.0m high.
