Ilex aquifolium – Holly

Description

Holly is an evergreen shrub native of the British Isles which grows irregularly in the early years. If pruned properly ( it withstands hard pruning ) the plant will become dense. With its dense habit and hard prickly leaves Ilex makes an excellent choice where additional boundary security is required.

Holly requires moist, well drained soil of any type. Suitable for full sun, dappled shade and full shade.

Suitable for growing into a hedge 1.50m to 3.0m high. If left unchecked it will grow into a large boundary shrub / tree that is 6-8m high.
