Acer Palmatum Dissectum Garnet

Description
These Japanese Maples from the Dissectum group are categorised as shrubs but come in many forms and can grow into small trees in time. Dissectum leaves are recognisable from straight Palmatum leaves as they are broader and more deeply cut and have a pendulous habit.
Despite the delicate leaves and thin branches, these are hardy plants that bring character to any garden.
This deciduous shrub grows slowly and ultimately can reach a height and spread of 3m over several decades. They require cool, light, moist but well drained soil. Must be in a semi shaded position to avoid leaf scorch on young plants and protected when in leaf from strong winds.
The variety Garnet has deep red leaves, often orange-yellow leaves in the autumn before falling.
